As a deadly disease devastates colder regions of the world, twelve-year-old Sintu and her six-year-old sister Buntu relocate with their parents from Europe to South Africa. Their family is unraveling under the weight of constant conflict, cultural differences and the looming possibility of divorce.
At Johannesburg's airport, the girls encounter a mysterious ageless being named Zinga who gifts them enchanted necklaces. When their parents' arguments reach a breaking point, the sisters activate the necklaces and are transported to an ancient Africa that exists before war, greed, disease and division.
There they meet Naledi, a spirited young member of an ancient hominid community living in harmony with nature. When Naledi accidentally cracks the sacred Star of Creation—a celestial orb that protects the balance of all life—she unleashes Venga, an ancient embodiment of hatred and corruption.
As Venga infects the world with violence, fear and disease, the three girls must undertake a cosmic quest to find a mythical Holy Plant hidden beyond the stars. Along the way they learn the secrets of nature, the origins of humanity and the interconnectedness of all life.
